← Wildfire Live Map — the fires themselves

Where is the wildfire smoke right now?

Live smoke plumes drawn by NOAA analysts from satellite imagery, the global aerosol picture from NASA, and the fires burning underneath — all from public-domain sources, on our own map tiles. Loading…

What this page shows

The question this page answers: "is the smoke coming my way — can I run, can the kids play outside, why is the sky orange?" That is a different question from "where is the fire" — for the fires themselves, see our live wildfire map.

What you see: the smoke-plume analysis for (), colored by density. The NOAA analysis covers North America. The NASA aerosol layer is global and shows Saharan dust, wildfire smoke and haze everywhere, about one day behind.

The forecast: the "Smoke forecast" layer plays the next 48 hours of surface PM2.5 from the NOAA GEFS-Aerosols model — global, Europe included (0.5° grid there). Press play and watch where tomorrow's smoke goes.

Coming next: PM2.5 ground readings (OpenAQ, CC BY 4.0), city pages and alerts. This page is for information — for health decisions during a smoke event, follow your local air-quality authority.
