The question this page answers: "is the smoke coming my way — can I run, can the kids play outside, why is the sky orange?" That is a different question from "where is the fire" — for the fires themselves, see our live wildfire map.
What you see: the smoke-plume analysis for … (…), colored by density. The NOAA analysis covers North America. The NASA aerosol layer is global and shows Saharan dust, wildfire smoke and haze everywhere, about one day behind.
The forecast: the "Smoke forecast" layer plays the next 48 hours of surface PM2.5 from the NOAA GEFS-Aerosols model — global, Europe included (0.5° grid there). Press play and watch where tomorrow's smoke goes.

Everything above is free and commercially usable. What we deliberately avoid: PurpleAir (restrictive ToS), AirNow API bulk redistribution limits (we would link, not scrape), Open-Meteo (we migrated off it platform-wide).
